Powering Telecommunications Through Renewable Energy

Techies is proud to support the implementation of Safaricom's Green Energy initiative as a subcontractor to Ofgen, contributing to the transition of telecommunications infrastructure from conventional power sources to sustainable solar energy systems.

The project focuses on the deployment of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at Safaricom cell tower sites across Kenya. By integrating solar power with battery energy storage, these sites are able to maintain reliable network operations while reducing dependence on diesel generators and the national electricity grid.

This initiative plays a significant role in reducing carbon emissions, lowering operational costs, and ensuring uninterrupted telecommunications services, particularly in remote and off-grid locations where reliable power is essential.
