Techies Kenya maintains a strong HSE culture supported by risk management, training, compliance programmes and internationally recognised safety standards protecting our people, clients and communities on every project.
At Techies Kenya, HSE is not a checkbox it is the foundation of every project we undertake. We believe that every worker has the right to return home safely, and we enforce this belief through robust systems, ongoing training and a culture of personal accountability.
Our HSE framework is aligned with international best practices and Kenyan regulatory requirements including OHS Act compliance, Safaricom OHS vetting standards and ISO guidelines — ensuring our sites are safe for our teams, our clients and the communities where we work.
Every project is governed by these five core HSE pillars enforced from the first day on site to final handover.
Personal protective equipment is mandatory on all Techies Kenya sites at all times. No exceptions no shortcuts.
Structured site safety inspections are conducted regularly to proactively identify and eliminate hazards before they cause harm.
Daily toolbox talks ensure every team member is briefed on site-specific hazards, safe work procedures and emergency protocols.
Our teams are fully trained and certified for elevated work towers, rooftops and aerial structures with zero compromise on fall protection.
We operate with a strong environmental conscience minimising our footprint and ensuring our projects comply with all environmental regulations.
Every Techies Kenya site operates with a documented emergency response plan ensuring fast, effective action in the event of any incident.
Techies Kenya invests in continuous HSE training and development for all personnel from site engineers to senior management. Our programmes are regularly updated to reflect current best practices, regulatory changes and lessons learned from projects.
Every new site employee and subcontractor undergoes a comprehensive HSE induction before commencing any work on a Techies Kenya project covering site rules, hazards, emergency procedures and PPE requirements.
All personnel working above 2 metres are certified WAH-trained with annual refresher courses, practical assessments and equipment competency checks before any elevated work commences.
All Techies Kenya supervisors hold valid first aid certifications. First aid kits are present on every site, and emergency response plans are documented, displayed and tested regularly.
High-risk activities including electrical work, confined space entry, hot works and elevated works require formal Permit to Work authorisation ensuring rigorous hazard assessment before any high-risk task begins.
All near misses, incidents and accidents are reported, investigated and documented. Root cause analysis is conducted and corrective actions are tracked to closure preventing recurrence and improving site safety continuously.
Every Techies Kenya project begins with a formal risk assessment. We identify, evaluate and control hazards before work starts.
All hazards are managed through engineering controls, administrative controls and PPE in that hierarchy of control order.
Walk-through surveys, job safety analysis (JSA) and consultation with site teams to identify all foreseeable hazards.
Each hazard is rated by likelihood and consequence to determine risk level informing prioritisation of control measures.
Engineering, administrative and PPE controls are implemented in the correct hierarchy to eliminate or reduce risk to acceptable levels.
Controls are monitored throughout the project and reviewed after any changes in scope, site conditions or personnel.
Incidents, near misses and audits feed back into our risk management process continuously improving our HSE performance.
Techies Kenya's HSE policies are developed in accordance with the Kenya Occupational Safety and Health Act, international standards and the requirements of our key clients including Safaricom OHS vetting standards.
"Techies Kenya is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, contractors, visitors and the communities in which we operate."
Every Techies Kenya employee has the right and the responsibility to stop any unsafe work. We believe all incidents are preventable and we work every day to prove it.
